Being hurricane season and all, I've decided to ask a couple of basic hurricane questions to get everyone thinking physically about hurricanes and perhaps to answer some questions people generally have about hurricanes. 

The question is the following:   Hurricanes don't form from 0 to 10 degrees latitude no matter how warm the water is at this latitude and believe me it is usually plenty warm enough to sustain a hurricane in the summer.  Why don't they form close to the equator?
