When there are no masses in the phantom zone of space...there is no gravity.
But there is a gravitational constant that will always be true...
For every discrete quanta of mass, there exists an equal and opposite gravitational discrete quanta around that mass.
For every increase in mass or density (mass present in one location), there is an equal and opposite reaction of space's gravitational constant...and a larger and stronger "gravitational field" will be present around said object.
When we remove mass and density from a location quickly...space responds with a vacuum which then successively seeks mass
quickly to fill the void...
Gravity is spacial response to mass...incrementally...and exponentially...
