I'm taking a course in nanoscale phenomena right now, and I will try to keep everyone updated on some of the newest nano-science.

If you don't already know, I've been working on growth and characterization of self-assembled nanostructures for a few years now. Specifically I study the electronic structure of quantum dots.

If anyone sees any interesting articles about nano-scale structures, let us know here.

If you are interested in material advantages of nanocomposites when compared to macro composites (like glass reinforced plastics, etc.), especially from the viewpoint of permeation and chemical resistance against water (liquid and vapour), I found the following reference quite handy:
