The extension of electromagnetism in the case of light is its  amplitude and wavelength. Light is a unified force of energy in a wave packet.

The EM force of "charged" particles extends to infinity supposedly. I believe that the electric force is a force immediate to its matterial source. Perhaps it simply becomes negligible at very short ranges.

Is there an electric field of the Earth?
