Physics education research, electronic materials, and the musings of Christopher Moore, Ph.D.

I have read that polymers and colloids sometimes will be consider like hard sphere and they interact with others and this interaction is called hard core interaction. Could someone explain why and how this theory is applied when this particles are near a wall?
