Hopefully you have read Feynman's autobiographical books. They provide great insight into how his mind worked: simple, yet un-mistakenly brilliant at the same time.

His 3-volume set, Lectures on Physics, is incredible as well—a pedagogical masterpiece!

FWIW, as a lecturer he was a bit of a "showman," which some folks found annoying. Most surprising was the fact that he had one of the thickest Lower-Eastside New York accents you'll ever hear: You'd likely think that he was an uneducated Bowery bum the first time you heard him open his mouth to speak (until, of course, you listened to what he had to say!).
