Hm, I just realized that I'd never introduced myself here.
My name is Matt Sievert, and I'm currently finishing my first year in my doctoral program at Ohio State University. Before this, I got my undergraduate and Master's degrees in physics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where I met Chris. I saw this website over Chris's shoulder one day in the lab, and I eventually joined the community. I really enjoy posting discussions and answering questions here. I hope to be a professor in the not-too-distant future, and it's a neat opportunity to have these kinds of discussions on the "level playing field" a forum provides.
My interests are in all kinds of theoretical physics and in mathematics. I'm currently studying condensed matter physics, in which subfield I did my Master's work. I hope to do some additional high energy/particle physics study next year.
I really appreciate this website and all the stimulating discussions I've had with people. Please, everybody, keep coming back.

... at Ohio State University
Never heard of it. Is that close to The Ohio State University? ![]()
I haven't seen Ben in a while. He was studying strings (I believe) at The Ohio State. So it would seem that we have pretty good representation there.
I'm assuming you've finished your coursework for the semester, hence the reason you have enough time to play in the sandbox with us. ![]()

Yeah, I think I might know Ben. He's a really exuberant strings guy; I think I heard him give his grad student colloquium.
And, no, we're on the quarter system out here, so I'm still in class. Just procrastinating on my homework and hanging out here. The quarter's almost over, though.
