$\LaTeX$ chemical isotope superscripts preceding character

In LaTeX Image , it is well known that
the caret ^ and the underscore _
provide for superscripts and subscripts
to the right of a character.
However, with chemical isotopes,
I need the superscripts and subscripts
to the left of the Element.
Does anyone know how to instruct
LaTeX Image to do this??

LaTeX Image

92
   U
238

Like this:

LaTeX Image

The code for which is as follows:

Code:

[tex ]^{92}_{238}U[/tex ]

Without the spaces, of course.
