Contact Me
By Christopher MooreI love to hear from physics phans!
If you must contact me, them please send all email to moorejc @ longwood.edu (without the spaces, of course). I reply to everyone that follows the rules outlined below.
Rules for contacting me
Please do not ask questions about your physics homework. That is what the forums are for.
I will not reply to questions about physics other than general questions that I feel may be appropriately addressed in an article. So if a homework problem has you stumped, then run to the forum. If you are wondering why everything looks blurry and wavy when looking through the heat coming off of your toaster, then go ahead and shoot me an email. I may be able to help, but due to limits on my time (and intelligence), I may not. If I don’t reply and/or you do not see an article addressing your question soon after, then I am either busy (which means please don’t re-send your email), or I’m not interested in the question (which means please don’t re-send your email).
If you have an exciting new “theory of everything” that you want to share with a physicist, please don’t contact me. I’m not interested in “new paradigms” or any such crack-pot non-sense. To release your new theory from the darkness, go here. If you’re not sure whether or not it’s a “crack-pot” theory see this. It probably is. If you are absolutely certain that your great theory is correct and revolutionary, then I’m the wrong guy to send it to anyway. I’m not a theorist, I have not and probably never will study cosmology, string theory, relativity, or whatever you claim is wrong, and most importantly I’m not really that smart.
If you’ve read my publications (solid-state physics, specifically surface science, and more specifically large bandgap semiconductors) and you still think I’m the right guy to ask about your new theory, then ask yourself: “What is a p-n junction?” If you cannot answer that question within the next 5 seconds, then DO NOT send me your new theory!
If you have a really cool website that pertains to physics and does not try to introduce a “new paradigm” in physics, then I’d love to hear about it.
If there is a general problem with the site, then you may email me, but I prefer you go here. If the problem is specific to you (like you can’t log in), then private email is more appropriate. If there is some feature you think would be cool on ilovephysics.com, then let me know here.
